My Journey as a Mother

Free Summer Self-Care for Every Mom

With Summer in full swing, every mom needs to dedicate some time to some self-care routine. A woman’s mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health is vital for a happy household.

As a full-time toddler mom, I need a few breaks every day. All busy moms are not happy moms, but all happy moms are anyway busy. After all, we need to pour from somewhere, right?

We can quickly lose track of time in today’s busy world. With so many distractions, FOMO, and staying at home all day long, we need a few random self-care activities for every mom.

Snatching these moments for our self-care every day help every mom handle things better. They keep us calm and composed as our kids bring the roof down or have a sick day.

Why is Self-Care Important for Moms?

As mothers, we put our priorities last. Most of us still do. Beyond this, we all crave for those little free time every day.

Have you noticed that you are in a better mood when you take time for yourself?

If you are taking time out for yourself, you would have realized it has always yielded better results. We understand that caring for ourselves always brings out only the better side of us.

We certainly love our families, seeing the joy on their faces gives us happiness. All of that is absolutely fine. However, the time we spend with ourselves is what makes us enjoy the moments with them.

Every mom could have a simple summer self-care routine. What matters is, how it makes their day better.

Why Summer Self-Care is Needed for Every Mom?

Summer is indeed the best time for vibrant activities. Certain activities are just right only when the Sun is around.

Ask any mom, and she would tell you that self-care in summer is more natural than any other season.

Is there any mom who doesn’t love her evening walks with the Sun glistening on her face? I couldn’t help but smile at that idea! We all love Summer walks.

As moms, we love it when the kids spend time under the Sun. It is easy to keep them engaged in Summer. They can just walk around, run around or play by the pool with almost no screen time.

We open the doors and welcome the Sun inside. We could let our children play in the water for a while. During uncertain times like these, we could still keep them engaged with less planning during the Summer.

They tire out quickly, they eat better, they drink water or juices without needing to push. They enjoy the little joys only Summer could offer without any worries.

Alright, I’ll stop there about our kids, when we start about them, we just keep going on about them.

So much for being mommies! Let us get back to ourselves.

When the Sun is Around, I feel Happy! How about you?

I am not a winter person. When Spring bloomed, I loved the break from freezing chills. The colors around me cheered me as I awaited Summer eagerly.

See, that was the story before three months. I was eager to see the Sun as I enjoyed the Spring.

Now, it is Summertime! I am excited and thrilled to watch the Sun beaming brightly almost every day across our living room.

It is indeed the best break time for moms! We all have the whole family stuck at home now. In my life, I would declare that 2020 marks as the most active by far in my life.

Why I need these Self-Care Activities Every Day?

When my toddler skipped her nap time for a whole of last week, I was going insane. I cherish every moment my toddler naps. It could be anywhere between an hour to two, but she must sleep.

Something tells me she might skip her nap shortly. Well, since it is Summer, I was exploring the web for activities that tires her out, so she can’t shun her rest anytime soon.

Motherhood is full of exploration anyway. I was worried about my daughter avoiding her nap time. This thought made me sit down and reflect my day.

I woke up on one of those unusual early mornings and decided to write. Instead, I sat down to reflect on a few moments that I could steal for myself every day. It would help me a great deal and act as my stress-buster too.

I sat down under the Sun and scribbled a few things. We need to start with what we already have, right? The empty house helped me list down a few things that I did every day until then.

I enjoyed reading my list. Our hearts indeed long for the simple things in life. I have listed here what I read and understood from my list.

Summer Self-Care for Moms:

Here is a list of 5 free everyday summer self-care activities every mom can follow. This will help moms deal with their day in a better way.

Wake Up with the Sun

So, now you know why I wanted Summer? Yes, it is to spend some time with the Sun every day.

It is the perfect way to get enough of those sun vitamins on your skin without getting out of the house. When it comes to self-care, every mom pushes it back.

So, let’s start with a warm summer self-care activity every mom could enjoy.

First thing in the morning, you get those vitamins naturally. You can exercise in the Sun or write and scribble anything under the Sun. It really doesn’t matter if you just want to sit or lie down and nap too.

You can grab a cup of coffee or lemon water and drink it under the Sun. It is essential to stay hydrated during Summer.

At times, we cannot get some alone time. Still, we must keep going with whatever we have. So, when your little one wants to spend some time under the Sun with you, treat it as a perfect moment.

You can sit with your little one and talk under the Sun. This way, both of you get enough sun time and time to bond with each other.

The best part is to give them some water to play while you are in the Sun. There’s definitely going to be lesser interruptions.

Walks in the Park or Walk within the Community

With restrictions clearing slowly in many places, it is good to walk outside again. If you are still worried, just walk within your neighborhood.

Or it could be a simple 8 walk inside the house while listening to a podcast or some music. Or step it up with Leslie Sansone, she makes walking enjoyable while burning your calories and busting your stressed hormones.

If there is one underrated activity, it is walking. You can simply burn your calories by taking a walk in the park or by walking within your four walls. The key is to walk.

If your little one is tagging along, then you can play a bit with her within the community. Children love to walk with their pets, taking them out on a walk is going to be fun.

Face Packs while you Cook or Clean

Since we have had enough of face masks, I am simplifying it to face packs.

We all know, we don’t have the liberty to put on a face pack and sit back with a magazine for an hour. Oops, not even for a few minutes.

Whereas some of us cannot really sit down with these face packs for a long time. Either way, they work best when you are busy with something.

As I enter the kitchen, I squeeze a small tomato or potato and apply it on the face. It stays on for a good 15 to 30 minutes while I get busy preparing meals.

You could use one slice of the tomatoes or potatoes that you use for your meal. That, my friend, is batching things together. I know we don’t have the spa time anymore.

Eating healthy is a significant part of taking care of ourselves. If it is going to be with things from our very own kitchen, then it makes it so much easier.

What is your favorite face pack?

A friend of mine suggested flax seed powder mixed with water. Another suggested leftover Papaya, even some apple pulp after draining the juice. Anything from your kitchen is safe to use on your face.

Bath Time Done Right

I don’t usually use the shower. It is better with a bucket of water for me. I end up spending a long time under the shower. That’s often a lot of water.

Instead, I use that shower time to take a warm bath in the tub. That saves water as well as helps me relax in the warm bath.

If I want just one activity to go right in my day, it would be this hot bath. The moment I step inside the tub, I feel relaxed. It totally works for me. My tired body is instantly rejuvenated. A 10-minute bath works wonders.

You can add essential oils, Eau d cologne, or any soothing salts to your bath. I will guarantee you that your day is done right!

You can easily use a large size tub and get the same luxury of a warm bath in the tub. That saves water and lesser time to clean up.

#The next activity is a vital self-care every mom needs this summer.

One-Minute Breaks for Every Mom:

How many one minute breaks do you take in a day?

Honestly, this is not just a summer self-care activity for every mom. This is needed for every season, every day for all your life.

Why is this needed, especially this Summer? It is necessary because everyone is at home all the time only this year. This year could be your start with one-minute breaks.

Since we run around without a pause, I realized the value of simple one-minute breaks. Now and then, I stop by to breathe. I stop to bring myself to the present moment.

At times, I take a break from drowning into my Instagram feed also. I set a few alarms every day to just leave things as it is and breathe or close my eyes.

Do you know I use my one-minute breaks to refill my bottle? It helps me take a mini-break from work and also helps me stay hydrated.

However, most of my one-minute breaks happen naturally when my mood is not right for the day. Most times, I am glued to my mobile and scroll, like there is no tomorrow.

At times, I am annoyed at my daughter or husband for disturbing me when I am busy with something. The concentration is often hard to get back. Still, all of this happens in every household to everyone.

It could be when you are buried in a book, and someone rings the bell.

Or, you finally sat down to write and the mobile phone rings.

I totally understand the concentration is often hard to get back. Still, all of this happens in every household to everyone.

Often, we react. There are times I still do this. Instead, when we focus on that one-minute to come back to the present moment, things are different. We can listen to the query and respond to it. This often leads to lesser drama.

So, that’s about my Summer self-care activities for every mom. If you have some interesting activities you enjoy, you could share it with me in the comments! I would be glad to incorporate it in my routine.
